Opening night, sponsored by Toyota, was anything but expected. A3C kicked off with a ‘Welcome to Atlanta Reception’ honoring music manager, Kevin “Coach K” Lee and attorney and CNN political commentator, Angela Rye.

Once again, A3C Music Festival 2017 has taken over the Atlanta music scene. A five-day music festival and events centered around Hip-Hop music and all its glory, A3C began on Wednesday, October 4, and closeout on Sunday, October 8. With celebrated music manager Kevin “Coach K” Lee, and many artists including Buckshot & Smiff N Wessun, Just Blaze, A-Trak, Dave East, Rich Homie Quan, and Hip-Hop royalty; the legendary Nas, come prepared to be musically filled.
Opening night, sponsored by Toyota, was anything but expected. A3C kicked off with a ‘Welcome to Atlanta Reception’ honoring music manager, Kevin “Coach K” Lee and attorney and CNN political commentator, Angela Rye. The evening was fanfare as local, and out-of-towners, artists, and musicians converge on The Loudermilk Conference Center, near the GSU campus, to be seen and heard musically and poetically. Cypers broke-out as young rappers spit on the front steps in reminiscent of old school Hip-Hop – the original moniker of anyone daring to rap with any modicum of respect. The energy was a bit frenzied, but a great musical feeling entrenched in everything a young but vibrant culture like Hip-Hop could provide.
Inside the center, invitees, VIP’s and the media alike, sipped on sponsored spirits provided by Martell VS Cognac, Heineken…, gorged on tasty bites of mac-n-cheese, fried chicken, and a delightful shrimp and grits, while bobbing to the latest Hip-Hop and R-N-B. Mayor Kasim Reed came out in support of A3C’s opening night and seems to have had a great time at the event. He was very inviting; It was pleasing to see him come out and enjoy the pleasures of Hip-Hop.
As the evening progressed, representatives from ChooseATL and A3C introduced the honoree’s, Angela Rye, and Kevin “Coach K” Lee, following with a visual presentation… It was a pleasure seeing Angela in person, wearing her all-white jumpsuit. As a political Commentator of CNN, her views have always advocated the truth, common sense, and fairness. Coach K, was commemorating. Accepting his award, Coach K reflected on his life in the industry and was appreciative of being honored. He has been a power-house in the Atlanta music scene for almost two decades, repping the success of artists such as Young Jeezy, Gucci Mane, and Migos.
Someone once said, “there is no age in Hip-Hop. If you grew up on, or around Hip-Hop, you could be 50 years old and look like someone in their early twenties. I think Hip-Hop is the fountain of youth.” This feeling was the sentiment of the evening, as attendees mixed and mingled, showing off their representation of the culture. An enjoyable and successful night, A3c started off victoriously.
